Long time Kelowna Minor Fastball player, Rachel Penner, has been accepted to Oklahoma City University “Stars” softball program. The pitcher will be heading south in August. Rachel has been playing softball in Kelowna since Junior Mites (11+ years). During that time with the Kelowna Heat she has won 3 Provincial championships & a 2nd place finish. Plus she has been to 4 National Championships with softball and baseball bringing home an additional 2 silver medals. Rachel also enjoyed giving back to the sport by teaching younger players pitching, hitting and the fundamentals of the sport.
Rachel will be attending OCU pursuing a degree in Business. OCU coach Phil McSpadden likes the Kelowna teenager’s potential and is excited to have her on board for the 2013 season.
Kelowna Heat’s Morgan Cederholm has been accepted to Graceland University’s softball program in Lamoni, Iowa on an athletic/academic scholarship.
The infielder will be heading to Lamoni in August. Her parents, Jeff and Kourtney Primeau, of Sicamous are very proud of her accomplishments.
Morgan is attending Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa pursuing a degree in Education. Her team, The Yellowjackets play in the Heart of America Athletic Conference of the NAIA. She will be studying and playing softball for 4 years as she works towards her degree. Morgan has many great memories of the 6 years she spent in Kelowna for the Heat which included 2 Provincial titles and a podium finish at Westerns.
